Daily Nickel/Stainless Steel Briefing (8:00 AM CST is 1PM in London)
  • Dow Jones reports three month nickel closed Thursday's trading session at $7.25/lb .  Indicators at 7:00 am CST today show 3 month nickel trading around $.01/lb higher, with other London traded base metals trading quietly and slightly higher as well. Overall, base metals appear to be fading from earlier session highs. Stockpiles of nickel stored in LME approved warehouses rose on Thursday and now total over 118,900 tonnes. Equity markets are mostly higher on hopes Bernanke may announce QE3 later today in a speech to be given at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Most analysts appear to be skeptical the Federal Chairman will take such an action. We find it very concerning that the Chinese stainless steel price index continues to fall.
